Gandhigiri vs True Identity

The most widely used word nowadays, Gandhigiri... No awards for guessing it.. Lage Raho Munnabhai. The sequel of one of the more popular movies in the Hindi film industry, M.MBBS, Gandhigiri, very easily put in by the writer and perfectly executed by the actor and the director in the usage. The term is now a Hinglish word .The other day I was watching Doordarshan, and guess what was being shown. Biography of M.K.Gandhi, the father of our nation. Oct 25th and the biography of MK Gandhi, I was astonished.
We could generally watch programs and biographies of MK Gandhi being shown on the TV during Gandhi Jayanti. Pfor the first time it was being shown during the last week of October. Call it an irony, or the identity of the Indians, the biography of MK Gandhi was triggered due to the blockbuster Lage Raho Munnabhai. Nothing else. Why would someone remember the father of the nation three weeks after having celebrated his birthday by taking an off from the office? Why would someone be so keen in knowing what he had done for the country, after all, we are independent now, who cares about the people who fought for it? Isn’t it? We are sick, at least the majority of us.That is the sad condition of our country. We need an impetus to remember the ones who really worked for us. We need a showman to make a movie and make us remember the important people of the country. We need a pair of actors, who were appreciated ,to make sure that we understand the Gandhian principles. When we learn about these principles in our school, we find it boring. When we see them on the screen, we find it interesting and wonder why we can’t be a Gandhi. We appreciate all the good that Gandhi did for the country, and wonder why can’t everyone follow his principles which would lead to world peace.
Keep dreaming... is what they say, because we all wish to witness another Gandhi in this era, but no one wants to take steps like that.

That's the irony of all times! Everyone wants a hero, but no one wants to be one.

I know its cheesy, but a line from Spiderman comes to mind : Along With Great Power, Comes Great Responsibility. How many of us are willing to face that?

With greater responsibility comes the risk of not being able to live upto people's expectations. Fear... Hence, we choose not to do anything about it.
