Ever seen kids selling roses on MG Road or Brigade in Bangalore? I am sure it happens everywhere, not just in India, but in many places. On MG whenever I go, I find a little girl, saying "Bhaiya, buy these roses please. Give it to your mom, give it to your girl friend, or just give it to a friend. They'll like it" I have bought flowers from her once. I loved the way she was speaking in English and the way that she gave me the options s to how to use the flowers.
Everytime I go to MG Road or Brigade, I see this child and a lot like her... trying to make their living selling flowers, or books, coaxing the consumers to buy their product because they can use it in the best manner possible, and explaining them how economical it is for them to buy it from them. I have seen these kids sell most of their flowers when they see a pair, not a couple necessarily because they have one subject who is emotional saying, "Oh, how cute is that?", and it results in a sale...
There have been times when I have seen people making a purchase not because they like a product, or they need it, but by the way it is pushed by the seller, I am reminded of the Emotional View of Consumer Decision Making.
