Losing faith

"We have lost my faith in Goddess Durga"

One of the devotees who had come to the temple located in Bilaspur district of Himachal Pradesh, which witnessed the unfortunate stampede, because of a rumour of a landslide in the vicinity.

How easy is it to lose faith in some diety or someone? I guess pretty easy, or pretty difficult. Circumstancial as you may think, but we never know what the devotees would have gone through. Imagine going with your family to a place of worship to find out that your loved ones passed away.

It is impossible to lose faith in someone after having trusted someone/diety all your life. More so because all the faith is shattered as soon as something happens in ones life when nothing can be undone? Is this what belief is all about?

Agreed my dear friend, but having had faith in something or someone, althought situations bring us to to a point in time where we cant do much about continue our faith, once faith is established it will always remain. And we will count on our faith for the rest of our lives...

it takes years to build faith in something, moments which take it away... doesnt test the intensity of one's faith but the direction of one's initial decision

Hey Ashu,
Faith is definitely circumstantial..
It takes time to gain faith in someone but to loose faith it will take matter of secs..Faith is similar to expectation..
Why do people pray to God??.. Selfish motive.. So that they can be happy without sorrows..But what if they are met with unhappiness, definitely going to ask God why are you doing this to us.. Its all expectation that comes into play.. If expectation not met faith is lost..

Hi Avi,

Thank you for your comment. I am glad that you understood what it meant. And it is similar to losing faith with anyone, be it the God or any person one believes. When expectations are not met, faith is lost.

What also happens with expectations is, it keeps going up, each time... It is then that it becomes difficult and it is then that comparision to the past is dug upon, leading only to sorrow for all the parties involved.

All I can say is, have the faith, and nothing will ever go wrong, cause having the faith that every day is a fresh day and has better things to offer is the faith of life.

Cheers to life everyone!!!
