FREE FREE FREE

Yes, I went shopping with my friend who's to get married next month. While shopping we realised that if we were to shop for Rs.5,000/- we can take home a 16 pc dinner set costing Rs.2500/- by paying Rs.499/- absolutely 'free'.

You are possibly thinking right. My friend did shop for five grands and took the dinner set for Rs.500/-, absolutely FREE!!! We had to fill in the gap of the minimal requirement by buying undergarments, and five pairs of socks.

No matter how the economy grows, no matter how high our salaries scale, we will never miss out an opportunity to get our hands on the Free, Bonus, Extra add-ons. Wants are created in the store. Promotions still work, and will continue working forever...

Retail school for mom and pop stores

Confederation of All India Traders decided to set up retail schools to educate the mom and pop stores to help them graduate to the modern format of retail. It has been quite some time that modern retail has entered India and is doing pretty well. With many players foraying into retail, it is now a competitive world. With the gadgets, planograms, and consumer research, the players in the retail world are doing everything to win consumers over their competitors.

It's a nice move by CAIT. My question is will the 'kirana' storewalas be willing to migrate to the modern format of retail? Do they have enough money to migrate?

Even now, most of the Indian consumers would prefer walking to the next-door store and buy their grocery over going to the hypermart or any of the retail format. Indian consumers prefer them because it is faster and they still have an emotinal bond with the shopkeepers. Modern retail formats are still a way of passing time and a family outing for most of the Indian consumers. Let us wait and watch what teaching retail schools can impart to the shopkeepers and how it would affect consumer behaviour in India. Sphere: Related Content

Why don't Tea Bags sell in India?

Ever since they have been invented in 1903, and marketed in 1904 by a merchant from New York named Thomas Sullivan, tea bags sell a lot all over the world.
Ever wondered why tea bags don't sell in India as they do on other places? That is because most of us are used to waking up and having a cup of tea made by our mom or our wife. We would not want to wake up and prepare tea for ourself. It has been observed that many people would prefer making tea using milk and not even milk powder - unless we run out of . It has also been seen that few men would fix breakfast for themselves when no one is at home, just like most of the Indian women do when her kids and husband is not at home. Indians would prefer boiling tea in the traditional manner and not use tea bags.
