The best gift of all is to give your time to someone. We all cherish the past because we remember the times we spent with our loved ones. For those of you who have always wanted to be a part of an old-age home, to visit the neglected, the forgottens, and spend time with them, this is your chance. On the 12th of December (Saturday), you can visit some of the Old Age homes.

Help-Portrait is a community that believes in spreading smile and happiness by spending their time with the ones who need it most. This festive season the Bangalore chapter has decided to spend their time at Old-Age homes and help them remember the times forever - by clicking them, and gifting their memories to them, with us in it.

Request you to be a part of this noble cause. It is absolutely fine if you are not a photographer, but I am sure that you can spend little time with them. Just one day of your life, for their happiness.

Bengaluru Mandis, Hidden Hues

The Mandis (bazaars) of Bangalore are like threads that bind today's modernity and way of life with that of the yesteryears' charm. These are places seemingly untouched by time and unchanged by all that has taken place over the centuries of this city's cultural existence.This book is one such humble endeavor to seize these faces, these magical expressions, these unending flavors and moods from the bazaars of Bangalore. Bengaluru Mandis is the first book BPC is publishing, putting together works of 16 photographers from the club. It's only a small step towards creating more art and providing a public platform for photographers.

Starting the break

Starting the break with what I had been waiting for a long time to do, join the BWS(Bangalore Weekend Shoots) group for the shoot. Checked the group yesterday and realised the PV had posted a suggestion to cover 3 churches in a go. So here we were, at 0630 hours at Cubbon Park waiting for people. The count was 8. I turned up just in time. Phew... 

Started our exped with St. Marks' near Cubbon Park. We could into the premises and were shooting the building from outside. After sometime we could go in and there was an old man praying. He asked Abhi who we were and what we were doing at that time in the church with such big cameras. The caretaker came in sometime later and asked us to leave. 

We started for St. Andrews on Cubbon road to cover that as well, with an apprehension that we would be asked to leave from that as well. Alas!!! We were not asked to leave in the first place. We could not get into the church, it was locked. 

We then left for St.Patricks' on the Residency road. When we reached there, we could easily go inside as school pupils were going to the their schools and we also came in with them. The guards never stopped us. After having shot heartily for about half an hour, a clergyman came to us and asked us not to shoot further. He suggested we take a permission from the father. When we approached for the permission, we were asked to stop shooting with an analogy, "Would you be okay if I come to your home and click pictures?" We said nothing and left. 

As soon as he told this, I told myself, "We have clicked what we had to. Thank you for that. Next time someone comes into your home, please ask them to leave before you give them time to finish what they have come for."

No hard feelings...

Photo Exhibition

Bangalore Photography Club hosted it's third annual photo exhibition Frames of Mind 2008. With over 50 entries from 50 photographers, this year BPC acheived a footfall of around 600 people and 14 frames were sold this year. Many people followed up their visit at the venue because of the sheer enthusiasm and the excellent work exhibited by the members.
